Nicki Magaard to serve as Wilson Elementary principal

Nicki Magaard has been selected to serve as the next principal for Wilson Elementary in Anoka following the announcement of Chris Forrest as assistant superintendent of elementary schools.   

Magaard is a proven leader who has served Wilson Elementary as assistant principal for the past four years. She has established strong relationships with staff members and the students and families in the Wilson community that will ensure a smooth transition to a new building leader. 

Along with her work at Wilson, Magaard brings valuable career experiences in a wide range of educational leadership positions. She joined Anoka-Hennepin as a middle school counselor at Roosevelt Middle School and also served as a counselor at Northdale Middle School prior to moving to a district role as a Q-Comp Peer evaluator, a position where she directly supported the instructional practices for teachers. Maagard’s career started in the classroom as a teacher and she also held roles in supporting academic interventions and student behaviors.  

Nicki was recognized for her impact this year through her selection as Minnesota's National Elementary Assistant Principal Award by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The honor recognized Magaard for her leadership in improving student achievement, strengthening staff collaboration, and refining schoolwide behavior systems. 

With the announcement, Wilson Elementary will begin the search for a new assistant principal prior to the start of next school year.
